How to Store SOL on Ledger Live

The guide below explained how to store SOL (Solana) on Ledger Live using your Ledger device.

Please download the last update of Ledger Live Application:

1. Ledger Live for Windows 10/11

2. Ledger Live for MAC

3. Ledger Live for Android

Step #1: Initiate the Set Up of Your Ledger Device

  • Create a PIN to initialize your respective Ledger device.
  • A 24-word recovery phrase prompt will be displayed. You should jot down this phrase and keep it safe.

Step #2: Download and Install the Ledger Live App

  • Install the downloaded app on your mobile device or personal computer. 

Step #3: Install Solana App

  • Launch the Ledger Live app then scroll to the Manager tab.
  • Connect your respective Ledger device to your mobile device. 
  • Conduct a search for the Solana app under the app catalog.
  • Click or tap the Install button and the Solana app will be added to your respective Ledger device. For example, Stax, NanoX or Nano S. 

Step 4: Proceed to Add a Solana Account

  • Visit the Ledger Live app and scroll to the Accounts tab.
  • Click or tap Add Account.
  • From the dropdown menu, select Solana (SOL) then click or tap the Continue button.
  • Launch the Solana app on your respective Ledger device.
  • Your Solana account will be automatically synchronized with the blockchain by the Ledger Live app. 
  • Provide a name for your account then click or tap on the Add Account button. 

Step #5: Proceed to Receive SOL

  • On the Ledger Live app, scroll to the Accounts tab then select your respective Solana account.
  • Click or tap the Receive button.

  • You will then be prompted to launch the Solana app on your respective Ledger device. Proceed to open the app.
  • Copy out the wallet address that is shown in the Ledger Live app.
  • Confirm that the wallet address on your respective Ledger device corresponds with the wallet address displayed in the Ledger Live app. 
  • Share the wallet address with the person wanting to send you SOL. You can also use the wallet address to directly withdraw SOL from one exchange or another.

Step #6: Ratify the Transaction

  • With SOL sent to your wallet address, you will also be able to access the SOL via the Ledger Live app once you have met some network confirmations protocol.
  • Now your SOL is securely and safely stored on your respective Ledger device. 

Notes: 

  • SOL is the native token of Solana network. So make sure that you are not mistakenly transferring other tokens available from different networks.
  • Do not share your 24-word recovery phrase with someone else. 
  • While the transaction fees for the Solana network is comparatively low, you will need SOL to pay the gas fee. Therefore, ensure that you have some SOL available for any transactions you may have lined up in the future.
