The quantity of rewards you may receive depends on the amount of VEGA you staked.

This article tutorial describes how to stake VEGA with your Ledger wallet.

Before you start

  • Update the Ledger device to the latest firmware version.
  • Update the Ledger Live app to the latest version.
  • Make sure that you installed the Ethereum (App) app on your Ledger device.
    • Connect and unlock your Ledger device.
    • Open Ledger Live and go to My Ledger. “If asked, allow access to My Ledger by pressing both buttons on your Ledger device simultaneously.”
    • Navigate to My Ledger, click on the App Catalog, and search for Ethereum (ETH). Once located click on it to Install.
    • Wait for the installation process to finish. You have installed the Ethereum (ETH) app on your Ledger device.
  • If you already have the Ethereum app on your Ledger device, update it to the latest version.

Note: Before beginning this tutorial, make sure that the VEGA token you want to stake is stored in your Ledger VEGA account. You can buy VEGA from an exchange and send it to your Ledger wallet.

Connecting Ledger Wallet to MetaMask

If you’ve already connected your Ledger device to Metamask before, skip this step and proceed to delegate your VEGA (Vega) tokens below.

  • Go to Metamask.io and click on Install MetaMask for your browser.

  • Add the MetaMask extension to your browser
  • Wait for the extension to be added to your browser. (we recommend Google Chrome)
  • Select Create a new wallet.
  • Once you have created a new wallet. Click on your profile icon and select Connect Hardware Wallet.

  • Follow the instructions on the screen to connect your Ledger device. To do this: Plug your Ledger device into your computer and open the Ethereum (ETH) app on your Ledger device by navigating to the Ethereum icon and pressing both buttons simultaneously. Wait for your Ledger device to display: Application is ready.

  • Select Ledger.

  • Wait for MetaMask to recognize your Ledger device, and click on Continue.
  • A list of accounts appears. These are your Ledger Ethereum accounts.

  • Select an account by ticking the box then click Unlock.
  • All done! Your Ledger Ethereum account and Vega balance will appear in MetaMask.

Delegate VEGA (Vega) — (Stake VEGA(Vega))

  • Go to token.vega.xyz and click on Staking.
  • Click on “Connect the Ethereum Wallet to Associate $VEGA”

  • Choose to connect via MetaMask

  • Once you’ve connected your Ledger MetaMask account.
  • You’ll see your available VEGA balance on the website, which will also be under not Associated.
  • Click on “Connect VEGA wallet to Use Associated $VEGA”

  • Set your VEGA wallet account name and passphrase, then click on Connect.

  • Click on associate to add VEGA tokens and enter the amount of Vega tokens you want to associate. Click on “APPROVE Vega tokens for staking on Vega”. Verify and sign the transaction.

  • Now scroll down and choose a validator to delegate your associated Vega tokens to.

  • Click on a validator and scroll down.
  • Under Manage your stake, select Add stake. Specify the amount of Vega tokens you want to stake and click Add VEGA tokens.

  • Verify and confirm the transaction, if everything looks good.
  • Once your staking is confirmed. You’ll receive staking rewards every 24hrs at the beginning of the next epoch.

Undelegate VEGA (Vega) — (Unstake VEGA(Vega))

  • On the right corner of the screen click on Manage under Staking.

  • Select the Validator.
  • Scroll down and under Manage Your Stake, click on Remove.

  • Enter the amount of your Stake token you want to remove and click on Remove VEGA tokens.
  • Verify and confirm the process, your previously staked VEGA will be removed and added back to your associate balance.
  • Now, navigate to Staking and click on Disassociate in the right corner of the page.

  • Enter the amount of VEGA tokens you want to Disassociate and confirm the process.
  • Your VEGA tokens will be returned to your Ledger MetaMask account.
