Staking Cartesi (CTSI) token with Ledger wallet is possible. Staking Cartesi (CTSI) allows you to passively earn CTSI staking rewards for helping to secure the network.

The quantity of rewards you may receive depends on the amount of Cartesi (CTSI) you staked. But keep in mind that there are gas fees for processing the transaction as Cartesi is an ERC20 token on the ETH network.

This tutorial describes how to stake and unstake Cartesi (CTSI) with your Ledger wallet.

Please download the last update of Ledger Live Application:

Before you start

  • Update the Ledger device to the latest firmware version.
  • Update the Ledger Live app to the latest version.
  • Make sure that you installed the Ethereum (App) app on your Ledger device.
    • Connect and unlock your Ledger device.
    • Open Ledger Live and go to My Ledger. “If asked, allow access to My Ledger by pressing both buttons on your Ledger device simultaneously.”
    • Navigate to My Ledger, click on the App Catalog, and search for Ethereum (ETH). Once located click on it to Install.
    • Wait for the installation process to finish. You have installed the Ethereum (ETH) app on your Ledger device.
  • If you already have the Ethereum app on your Ledger device, update it to the latest version.

Note: Before beginning this tutorial, make sure that the Cartesi (CTSI) token you want to stake is stored in your Ledger Cartesi (CTSI) account. You can buy Cartesi from an exchange and send it to your Ledger wallet.

Connecting Ledger wallet to MetaMask

If you’ve already connected your Ledger device to Metamask before, skip this step and proceed to delegate your Cartesi (CTSI) tokens below.

  • Go to Metamask.io and click on Install MetaMask for your browser.

  • Add the MetaMask extension to your browser
  • Wait for the extension to be added to your browser. (we recommend Google Chrome)
  • Select Create a new wallet.
  • Once you have created a new wallet. Click on your profile icon and select Connect Hardware Wallet.

  • Follow the instructions on the screen to connect your Ledger device. To do this: Plug your Ledger device into your computer and open the Ethereum (ETH) app on your Ledger device by navigating to the Ethereum icon and pressing both buttons simultaneously. Wait for your Ledger device to display: Application is ready.

  • Select Ledger.

  • Wait for MetaMask to recognize your Ledger device, and click on Continue.
  • A list of accounts appears. These are your Ledger Ethereum accounts.

  • Select an account by ticking the box then click Unlock.
  • All done! Your Ledger Ethereum account and Cartesi balance will appear in MetaMask.

Delegating Cartesi (CTSI) (Staking Cartesi (CTSI))

  • To stake Cartesi, go to the Cartesi staking website: Explorer.cartesi.io/ and click on Connect Wallet.

  • Click on MetaMask to connect with your Ledger MetaMask account.

  • Verify and approve the process on your Ledger MetaMask account.

  • Once you have connected your Ledger MetaMask account successfully. It’s time to delegate your CTSI tokens. Keep in mind that ETH will be charged for transaction fees for staking, unstaking, and withdrawal requests.
  • Click on Stake on the website and navigate to the Cartesi staking dashboard.

  •  Scroll down to the staking pools and select a staking provider.

  • Click on the staking section.

  • Click on the pencil like icon to add the amount of CTSI tokens you want to add to the pool.

  • Enter the amount of CTSI tokens you want to add the pool and click on Save. Verify and sign the transaction if everything looks good.

  • Scroll down the page and your added pool amount will be visible.
  • Click on Stake and enter the amount of CTSI you want to stake and click on save. Verify and sign the transaction. The staked token will be visible under the staked tokens section now.

Now, you have staked your CTSI tokens and it’s ready to accrue rewards.

Undelegate Cartesi (CTSI) (Unstaking Cartesi (CTSI))

  • To unstake the CTSI tokens, go Stake on the Cartesi staking website: Explorer.cartesi.io/ 
  • Scroll down to the My Staking pools section.
  • Locate the staking pool you want to unstake and click on it. 
  • Scroll down and click on the – icon or on UNSTAKE.

  • Enter the amount of CTSI token to unstake, which can either be partial or full.
  • Verify and sign the transaction.
  • Your CTSI tokens will be unstaked successfully and be available for withdrawal.
