If you’ve some Polkadot (DOT) that you would want to delegate to receive staking rewards, this article describes how to join a Polkadot nomination pool with your Ledger to receive Polkadot (DOT) staking rewards.

Before you start
- Update the Ledger Live app to the latest version.
- Make sure that your Ledger device is running the latest firmware version.
- Update the Polkadot (DOT) app on your Ledger device to the latest version.
Joining a nomination pool
- Open your Ledger Live app and go to your Polkadot (DOT) account.
- Select it and click on Nominate down the right side of the screen.
- From the list of pools, choose a validator by ticking the check mark beside them. You can choose up to 16 validators. However, avoid nominating a validator that shows over-subscribed.
- Click on Continue. Open the Polkadot (DOT) app on your device and verify the transaction. Review all operations and approve if everything is correct.
- You have successfully nominated validators and you can view your list of validators by clicking on view details.
Note: It takes at least 2-3 days before you can begin receiving DOT staking rewards.
Leaving a nomination pool
If you don’t feel like nominating a validator anymore, you can clear validators. Keep in mind that clearing validators will keep you from receiving further DOT rewards. However, your DOT will still be bonded.
- Open Ledger Live.
- Connect your Ledger device and open the Polkadot app on it.
- Go to your Polkadot account on your Ledger device and click on the stake button.
- Click on Clear nominations.
- Read the information that pops up and click on Continue.
- Review the transaction on your Ledger device and approve it, if everything is correct.
- Wait for Ledger Live to display that the transaction was sent successfully. Now you have cleared all your nominations.
