When sending XRP/XLM from Ledger wallet to an exchange

Yes, whenever you are sending XRP/XLM from Ledger Live, it’s important to include the destination tag/ID. That’s because exchanges need the destination tag/ID to credit your deposit to the right account.

When withdrawing XRP/XLM from an exchange to my Ledger wallet

You only need the destination tag/ID when sending XRP/XLM from your Ledger XRP/XLM account to an exchange. However, if you are sending from an exchange to your Ledger XRP/XLM account,  you don’t need to include the destination tag/ID. 

Already sent crypto to the exchange but forgot to include a memo

Even though it’s important to include a destination tag/ID in your transaction, the XRP/XLM you sent with a destination tag/ID is not lost. There’s a way to recover your funds and this includes contacting the exchange support where you sent your XRP/XLM with the transaction ID. Your XRP/XLM will be recovered and credited to the right account.
